West Ham United continue their 2023/24 Premier League campaign when they head to west London for their penultimate away fixture of the season against Chelsea, looking to build on last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
The Hammers came from behind to gain a well-earned and a potentially precious point at London Stadium against Jürgen Klopp’s Reds, with Michail Antonio heading home to rescue a share of the spoils after an Andy Robertson strike and an own goal from Alphonse Areola cancelled out Jarrod Bowen’s first-half opener.
David Moyes’ charges will be aiming to complete the Premier League double over the Blues, having won an action-packed reverse fixture 3-1 in August. Nayef Aguerd handed West Ham an early lead, only for Carney Chukwuemeka to cancel it out eleven minutes later.
Antonio restored our advantage with a powerful, angled strike and, despite being reduced to ten men on 67 minutes, Lucas Paquetá added a third in stoppage time from the penalty spot.
The Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek 36 deadline is set for 6.30pm on Friday 3 May, ahead of a mouth-watering weekend of Premier League football highlighted by a Sunday afternoon derby in west London.
While we will be giving you FPL tips and tricks throughout the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign on whufc.com, see below for some of our picks for the upcoming round…
For the next fixture, all eyes are on Antonio…
Antonio, Antonio, Antonio!
Since Michail Antonio (£5.7m) returned from injury in February he has been nothing short of a revelation for Moyes’ side. West Ham’s all-time Premier League top scorer, who has netted five goals in his last nine games in all competitions, will hope to add to his tally between now and the end of the season and in doing so help the Irons finish strongly.
Antonio boasts an impressive 31 FPL points in his last seven Premier League fixtures, and could prove a touch of value against a side who have conceded seven goals in their last three top-flight fixtures.
It would almost feel criminal not to mention Jarrod Bowen (£7.7m) in our weekly FPL preview, too.
Bowen, who made his 200th West Ham United appearance, and scored his 20th goal of the season in all competitions against Liverpool, has registered 178 FPL points this season, including that 13-point haul against the Reds last weekend.
He is always worth consideration by FPL managers when wearing the Claret and Blue jersey.
Opposition watch: Chelsea
Cole Palmer (£6.2m) has arguably been the best value player in FPL this season. The midfielder is a must have and a great option ahead of the Premier League run-in.
The 21-year-old is the highest-scoring midfielder on FPL this season, with 216 points, and his performances have seen him selected by 49.1 per cent of managers in the game.
Other options for the Blues this weekend include defender Marc Cucurella (£4.8m).
The left-back has been an eye-catcher under Mauricio Pochettino and has posted some impressive statistics in recent weeks. He has started in each of Chelsea's last eight matches, and scored eight points against Tottenham on Thursday night.
Noni Madueke (£5.3m) registered a goal and an assist for Chelsea in their 2-2 draw at Aston Villa last weekend, earning him an outstanding 12-point haul and a spot in the FPL Team of the Week.
