West Ham United host Brentford on Monday evening, seeking an end to a poor run of form that continued after last weekend’s defeat to Nottingham Forest.
The Hammers are six games without a win in the top flight and will need to take their first Premier League point off the Bees - at the sixth attempt - should they end a disappointing start to 2024.
The Gameweek 26 transfer deadline is set for 1.30pm on Saturday 24 February, ahead of a mouth-watering feast of weekend action that begins two days before the meeting at London Stadium.
While we will be giving you FPL tips and tricks throughout the remainder of the 2023/24 season on whufc.com, see below for some of our picks for the upcoming round…
Antonio, Antonio, Antonio!
A positive from an otherwise disappointing trip to the City Ground last Saturday was the return of Michail Antonio (£5.7m), who made his first start of 2024 in the 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Returning to our Premier League starting XI for the first time since the reverse fixture against the Tricky Trees in November last year, Antonio featured for 76 minutes against his former club, impressing with trademark energy to show himself as one of the brighter performers in an otherwise poor showing.
West Ham’s all-time Premier League top scorer, who scored twice in his first three top-flight games in 2023/24, will hope to add to his tally between now and the end of the season and in doing so help end the Irons’ recent run of form in the league.
The striker will also look for a return to goalscoring form as he inches closer to a 300th appearance in Claret and Blue.
Antonio would move eight shy of the impressive landmark should he feature against Brentford.
Opposition Watch: Brentford
It is difficult to look past Ivan Toney (£8.2m), whose return to match action in 2024 has seen his ownership rise to 9.2 per cent - only seven strikers have a higher ownership at the time of writing.
The 27-year-old has scored four goals in six games this season, with a best return of ten points coming in a 3-2 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur last month.
Other forward options include Yoane Wissa (£5.6m) and Neal Maupay (£4.9m), who scored in the Bees’ 3-2 win in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Maupay’s record against West Ham may interest FPL bosses too, with the former Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion striker on the scoresheet in all but one of his last five games against those in Claret and Blue.
Goalkeeper Mark Flekken (£4.5m), meanwhile, returned ten points in a recent fixture against Manchester City, including an assist and save bonuses.
