Fantasy Premier League | Gameweek 21 hints and tips

West Ham United look to return to winning ways on Tuesday evening, with a Premier League visit of Fulham.

The fixture will mark Graham Potter’s first top-flight game in charge of the Hammers, following Friday’s Emirates FA Cup third-round defeat at Aston Villa, and the 49-year-old will hope to register a first win in Claret and Blue against the Cottagers.

Though they are unbeaten in 12 of their last 13 Premier League home games against Fulham, with the exception being a 2-0 loss on 14 April 2024, West Ham will be wary of the threats posed by a side that is on a nine-match unbeaten run in all competitions, including a win over Chelsea and draws with Arsenal and Liverpool, and a 4-1 thrashing of Watford in the FA Cup third round last Thursday evening.

Both teams will be full of individuals looking to provide the touch of magic required to make the difference under the London Stadium lights, meaning there are a number of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) decisions to be made in the lead up to kick-off.

The Gameweek 21 transfer deadline is set for 1pm on Tuesday 14 January ahead of a mouth-watering feast of midweek action, that includes West Ham’s clash with Fulham.

Back to our Gameweek 21 preview, and we’re looking for one of the Premier League’s long-standing prolific strikers to find the back of the net…

Danny Ings

Ings to net in Potter’s home debut?

The Hammers’ squad has been hit by a number of setbacks on top of the long-term injuries, with Niclas Füllkrug, Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio all set to miss Tuesday’s game.

So, now could be the time to add proven Premier League forward Danny Ings (£5.0m) to your attacking arsenal.

Ings, who has been an understudy to the aforementioned trio this campaign, has netted over 125 goals since bagging his first as an 18-year-old for Dorchester Town in the sixth tier over 14 years ago.

He could be in contention for his second Premier League start of the season for the Irons, and played a pivotal role in our last-gasp draw in west London in September, collecting Bowen’s cutback with one touch before slamming a low shot past Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno to snatch a 1-1 draw.

Also in attack, meanwhile, Mohammed Kudus (£6.2m) is another obvious asset to target given his strong underlying data. Despite playing four games fewer in the Premier League than West Ham’s captain and highest-scoring FPL player, Bowen, Kudus has almost matched him for shots (Bowen leads 50 to 46), big chances (seven to six), and xG (5.10 to 4.97).

Owned by just 2.7 per cent of managers and valued at just north of £6m, Kudus is an affordable differential for those looking to make a mid-season move in Fantasy Premier League.

Raul Jiménez

Opposition Watch: Fulham

Raúl Jiménez (£5.7m) converted two penalties against Ipswich Town little over a week ago, that took him to eight goals for the campaign - his most prolific since 2019/20, when he scored 17 goals while at Wolves.

Indeed, the in-form talisman continued his impressive goalscoring run for the Cottagers on Thursday, when he climbed off the substitutes’ bench to help complete a rousing FA Cup third-round victory over Watford, and FPL managers will be hoping he can add to his tally against the Hammers, who will be keeping their fingers crossed that the Mexican has an off-day.

Elsewhere, Fulham’s left-back Antonee Robinson (£5.0m) has seven assists to his name this season, already surpassing his total from 2023/24 Fantasy by one assist.

Alternatively, Alex Iwobi (£5.7m), who is often utilised behind Jiménez on the left wing, could also be a shrewd addition to your FPL team. He has totalled 87 points this campaign, having scored five goals and provided three assists for his teammates.
