West Ham United U18s came from behind to defeat Ipswich Town U18s 4-2 and secure a place in the FA Youth Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1999.
The Tractor Boys took the early lead in the quarter-final clash at Portman Road on Wednesday thanks to Finley Barbrook's headed effort, but the home side were reduced to ten men in the first half when Calum Logan was shown a straight red card for a foul on George Earthy.
Gideon Kodua levelled the tie before the interval, heading in after Woody Williamson tipped Callum Marshall's effort in the captain's direction.
Despite being a man down, Ipswich continued to cause the Irons problems and grabbed the advantage on 68 minutes. Nico Valentine cut inside onto his favoured right-foot and slammed home a powerful strike into the bottom corner.
The Irons were level again just moments later, as Marshall and Earthy smartly connected around the penalty area, allowing the Irish youngster to slide in for West Ham's second.
Marshall came agonisingly close to securing progression inside 90 minutes, only for his looping header to clatter the cross-bar. Extra time was required in the last eight outing.
With just four minutes left of the second period of extra time, Marshall's low cross was picked up by substitute Ryan Battrum. The 17-year-old kept his composure to sweep in on his left foot, netting his first goal of the season to give the Irons the 3-2 lead.
A hefty chunk of added time ensured a nervy end to the match, but Divin Mubama wrapped up the win late on with a smart finish of his own.
