Viviane Asseyi’s composed finish against Leicester City was worthy of winning any football match.
The forward latched onto a through ball from Manuela Paví, who showed great technique and trickery to glide past two Foxes players to set up Asseyi, before rounding the goalkeeper with an astute first touch and finishing into an empty net.
It secured Rehanne Skinner’s West Ham United women’s team their first victory of the Barclays Women’s Super League campaign and moved them up to ninth in the standings.
The 1-0 success was also the side’s first clean sheet of the season as they sent the Hammers faithful home happy from Chigwell Construction Stadium on Sunday.
