Everton Women v West Ham United Women

After successfully advancing into the knockout stages of the Continental Tyres League Cup in midweek, West Ham United Women now turn their attention back to the Barclays Women’s Super League as they head north to face Everton.
The Hammers are hoping to take the positive of qualifying for the last eight into their game against the Toffees at Walton Hall Park, which gets underway at 1pm on Sunday 22 January.
And after defeat against Manchester City in their return to league action last weekend, Paul Konchesky’s side are looking to get back to winning ways, whilst also aiming to complete a league double over Everton for the first time since turning professional.

A limited number of tickets are still available for West Ham United Women’s trip to Walton Hall Park. You can purchase an unreserved standing ticket from Everton’s official ticketing site, which are priced at £7 for Adults and £4 for a Junior/Senior ticket.

Walton Hall Park bus stop is at the entrance of the ground and is served 19 and X3 bus lines. Walton train station is approximately a 24-minute walk from the ground and is served by trains from Liverpool Central and Ormskirk on the Northern Line of the Merseyrail network.

Manager, Konchesky offered an injury update in his pre-match interview...
"We’ve got the one long-term injury in Jess Ziu," the boss confirmed.
"She’s been able to travel with us earlier this week to Brighton and I think it’s good to keep those that are on the sidelines integrated with the players that are healthy.
"Unfortunately, Amber Tysiak picked up a knock in her second training session after we announced her signature. We’re hoping that she won’t be out for too long and she’s working hard with our medical team to get back fit and available for selection.
"Abbey-Leigh Stringer missed our game against Brighton in the Conti Cup as a precaution. She too had a little knock that we didn’t want to risk, but we’re hopeful that she will be involved on Sunday."
The Opposition…
The Toffees come into this match with West Ham United sitting one place above them in the Barclays Women’s Super League table. Under new boss Brian Sørensen, Everton have made progress on last season’s disappointing campaign which saw them finish in 10th position. Indeed, they have already collected 15 points this time around, five less than the 20 they managed throughout the whole of last season.
Signings like Jess Park and Katja Snoeijs from Manchester City and Bordeaux respectively have added firepower to a front line that struggled for goals last season, whilst Hanna Bennison has blossomed into a key player in midfield under Sørensen.
After winning two league games on the bounce after a run with three games without a win, the Danish boss will be hoping that his side have turned a corner as they prepare to take on the Hammers at Walton Hall Park.
In the earlier meeting between the two teams, in what would turn out to be the opening day of the 2022/23 season due to the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Hammers came out on top. Lisa Evans’ headed goal was the difference in a tightly contested game in east London, and with both sides on the same number of points heading into the tie on Merseyside, we could see a very similar type of match on Sunday.
After a long period on the road, West Ham United Women will be back at Chigwell Construction Stadium on Sunday 5 February, when they welcome Arsenal to east London.
