West Ham United must take confidence from their current five-game unbeaten run ahead of a trip to Tottenham Hotspur, according to Emerson Palmieri.
The full-back played his part in West Ham’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, which means David Moyes’ men have tasted defeated just once in the last seven matches in all competitions.
And while West Ham was unable to follow up a trio of late wins with another victory on Sunday against the Eagles, Emerson was in a positive mindset ahead of a second of three straight London derbies.
“It was a tough game,” Emerson stated. “It's always against Palace it is a game like this.
“In the second half, and in the last 20 minutes, we created two or three chances to score a goal. But in the end, we have to take this point and now try to keep [the unbeaten] run going.”
In particular, Emerson praised the work of Mohammed Kudus.
The Ghanaian international was a threat throughout at London Stadium and saw his fifth Club goal put the Hammers ahead on 13 minutes.
“I think he was our best player on the pitch [against Crystal Palace],” Emerson enthused. “Vlad put a great ball to Mo who secured another beautiful goal for us. Mo helped us a lot in the game.
“But in the end, we conceded the goal, and we have to think about the next time. We are disappointed because when you play at home you want to win. And against Palace, I think it was a great opportunity for us to take the three points.
“It is a positive thing that in the last seven games, we have lost just one game, but the Premier League is like this, and every game is tough.”
As such, the Hammers could stretch an unbeaten run to six matches against Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Chelsea full-back has played in his fair share of London derbies, though, and is well aware of the test to come in North London.
He said: “It’s another big game as a London derby. We need to recover well because Tottenham is always a tough play to go. We respect them but we need to go there to win.”
