Anouk Denton’s superb run and finish against Crystal Palace has been nominated for the Barclays Women’s Super League’s December Goal of the Month award.
The left-back marauded forward from just inside the opposition’s half to the edge of the box before unleashing a strike on her weaker left foot that nestled into the far corner.
This gave West Ham United women’s team a two-goal advantage against the Eagles, and they eventually wrapped up the clash via a 5-2 scoreline at Chigwell Construction Stadium - from which Denton was then crowned Barclays WSL Player of the Match.
The 82nd-minute goal was 21-year-old Denton’s second of the campaign, and she has played every minute in the WSL so far this term under Rehanne Skinner.
The England U23 international is up against Manchester United’s Leah Galton, Everton’s Sara Holmgaard, Manchester City’s Mary Fowler, Arsenal’s Alessia Russo, Chelsea’s Wieke Kaptein, and Brighton & Hove Albion pair Marisa Olislagers and Jelena Čanković for the award.
