On This Day | Wright & Sinclair sink Newcastle

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, presented by Heineken...

West Ham United recorded a superb 3-0 away win over Newcastle United to snap a three game winless run and climb into the top ten of the Premier League table on this day in 1998.

The Magpies endured a horrific Halloween at St James' Park as Stuart Pearce was sent-off on 47 minutes before the Irons hammered home their advantage with three second-half goals.

Ian Wright scored twice either side of a Trevor Sinclair strike as Harry Redknapp's men ended up as comfortable winners after a goalless first half.

This win sparked a run of four victories in five matches as we would ultimately finish fifth, qualifying for Europe in the process.
