On This Day | Solano scrambles late winner at Fulham

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with Heineken.

Nolberto Solano's late goal completed a league double over Fulham on this day in 2008.

Just a month after dispatching the Cottagers 2-1 at the Boleyn Ground, the Hammers went on the road to Craven Cottage for the return fixture.

And after 87 goalless minutes Solano was on hand to scramble home the winner and send the Claret and Blue Army back down the District line happy.

The away win saw the Hammers reach the all-important 40-point mark, though they would accumulate just nine more points before the season's end.

All in all, however, after the drama of a final-day escape the previous season, the security of a tenth-place finish was a more-than satisfactory return.
