Manuel Lanzini's finish was the difference as West Ham United claimed a 1-0 win at Manchester United on this day in 2021.
The Argentine sweetly struck a first-time effort from Ryan Fredericks' excellent cut-back on nine minutes in the Carabao Cup third round tie to ensure the Hammers' progression in the competition at the Red Devils' expense.
It was a well-deserved win for the Irons, who also went close through Andriy Yarmolenko, Mark Noble and Jarrod Bowen, with West Ham securing a first victory at Old Trafford since 2007.
Incidentally, 22 September is a big date in West Ham history for wins over Manchester United. On the same day in 2019, the Irons also secured a 2-0 win at London Stadium against the Red Devils, thanks to Yarmolenko's finish and an Aaron Cresswell free-kick.
