Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with Heineken...

West Ham United snatched a memorable 3-2 victory over Chelsea with a stoppage-time winner from Paul Kitson on this day in 1997.

A back-and-forth encounter saw the Blues take the lead through Gianluca Vialli's calm finish after 26 minutes at Boleyn Ground.

The Hammers managed to hit back in the second period, first from the penalty spot courtesy of Julian Dicks, before Paul Kitson's low drive put them ahead for the first time.

With just a few minutes left on the clock, Mark Hughes brought the visitors back on level terms, making a draw seemingly the most likely outcome in east London.

Not to be denied, however, Irons forward Iain Dowie climbed highest to meet Michael Hughes' corner and head the ball past Nick Colgan - via Kitson's outstretched body - to seal the three points for the boys in Claret and Blue.
