On This Day | Hammers climb to sixth with Boro win

West Ham United climbed up to sixth in the Premier League table with a 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough on this day in 2000.

The Irons extended their unbeaten league run to a sixth game with this Boleyn Ground victory against the North-East side, with Paolo Di Canio scoring the only goal of the contest three minutes before the break.

With Shaka Hislop keeping a fifth clean sheet from the first 16 games of the campaign, his side had done enough to claim all three points.

This would turn out to be the high point of the Hammers' campaign, as Harry Redknapp's side could not maintain their form into the New Year and ended the season 15th.
