On This Day: Andy Carroll and Jonathan Calleri shoot down Middlesbrough

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with Heineken...

West Ham United made it back-to-back Premier League victories by beating Middlesbrough 3-1 at the Riverside Stadium on this day in 2017.

In what was an assured away display from Slaven Bilić's side, Andy Carroll put the Hammers ahead with a towering header after just ten minutes.

The hosts responded well to going behind and levelled through Uruguay forward Christian Stuani. However, Carroll pounced once more before the break, following a Michail Antonio drive from distance. The popular Geordie reacted quickest to Victor Valdes' parry and converted powerfully to give West Ham the advantage for a second time.

A tense second half followed as Middlesbrough went in search of an equaliser, but a well judged counter-attack by the Irons saw Jonathan Calleri given the ball on the edge of the 'D' and the Argentine striker duly obliged, firing the ball past Valdes for his first goal for the Club.
