Crysencio Summerville | Career in Pictures

Following the confirmation of his arrival at West Ham United, we take a photographic journey through Crysencio Summerville’s glittering career in football so far.

Born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, the 22-year-old played youth football for RVVV Noorderkwartier before being snapped up by 1969/70 European Cup winners Feyenoord as an Under-7 in 2008.

Though he was relatively small in stature, Summerville’s technical prowess elevated him to prominence throughout the various age-groups at Feyenoord, while he was rewarded with international recognition, first at U16 level, in late 2016.

After helping his country win the UEFA U17 European Championship in May 2018, that December saw him join Dutch second-tier side FC Dordrecht on loan until the end of the 2018/19 season, where he was exposed to senior football for the first time, and duly notched five goals in 18 appearances.

Summerville secured a second loan away from Feyenoord ahead of 2019/20, this time at Eredivisie outfit ADO Den Haag, and his impressive performances – that yielded two goals and three assists in 22 outings – prompted interest from across the continent, and an eventual move to Leeds United in September 2020.

Having shone for the Whites’ U23s, he made his Premier League bow against Newcastle United in September 2021, two months before winning the first of his eight Netherlands U21 caps.

A first goal for the West Yorkshiremen arrived towards the start of 2022/23, in a 3-2 win over Fulham, just six days before Summerville netted a dramatic winner against Liverpool at Anfield.

Three appearances at the UEFA U21 European Championship last summer preceded an opening-day goal and assist against Cardiff City in the EFL Championship, and five strikes in October 2023 saw him crowned that month’s second-tier Player of the Month.

A top-scoring total of 21 goals in 49 games in all competitions for Leeds during 2023/24 helped them finish third in the table and progress to the Play-Off final at Wembley, and he was subsequently named the league’s Player of the Season.
