Coufal: Of course we can dream

Vladimír Coufal believes West Ham United can dare to dream after Thursday's sensational 3-0 UEFA Europa League quarter-final second leg victory over Lyon.

The east Londoners rounded off a 4-1 aggregate success against the French side with a complete away performance, stunning their hosts with three goals in a ten minute spell either side of the break.

Lyon were left with no response as the Hammers set up a semi-final meeting with German Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

Coufal hailed the support of the travelling Claret & Blue Army in Parc Olympique Lyonnais, saying they acted as great inspiration for his team.

"It's an amazing feeling," he beamed. "Even before the game I saw on social media a lot of photos and videos of our fans in the city, supporting us in good numbers, so it's perfect.

"It's for them, it's for everyone at West Ham. We are making history so it's a brilliant achievement.

"Of course we can dream. We have to dream. I think this team can reach whatever we want - win this competition I mean - so we'll see what's going to happen."

Coufal has only just returned to the Hammers team, two months after undergoing surgery on a hernia, and he could hardly have chosen a better time to come back into the fold.

Sunday's Premier League game against Burnley represents a chance to maintain their challenge for a top six spot, while a blockbuster European semi-final waits just around the corner.

"My emotions after the game were something unbelievable," he added. "It's a good time to be back on the pitch. Now were are in the last four in the Europa League and we go ahead. The final is still a dream.

"We're going to play against Frankfurt, who will also be a tough opponent, but we are excited to bring a semi-final to London Stadium and we'll see what's going to happen."
