Vladimír Coufal has his head in his hands at some of the random questions he picks out to answer for the Official Matchday Programme...
What is the worst thing about being a footballer?
"What a question to start with! There is no answer because being a professional football is the best thing a person could ask for. It was literally my dream as a kid and I can’t think of anything that’s particularly bad about it.
"You could maybe say the travelling, and of course there are times we have to be away from our families for extended periods, but that’s part of the job and I’m so glad to be a footballer."
Tell us a random fact about yourself.
"I’m drawing out all of the hard questions here. Okay this is very random, but on my left foot I have a toe that is bigger than the same toe on the right foot. My big toe on the left foot is bigger than the one on the right. I never thought that would come up in an interview…"
Describe yourself in three words…
"I would say hard-working, positive and I would also go for funny. I like to think I’m a funny guy."
Who is your best friend in the West Ham squad?
"Finally, a nice question! My luck is changing. I have to say Tomáš Souček. We have been friends for a long time. We’ve played together for quite a few years now."
What type of music do you listen to in the car?
"Firstly, I will say absolutely no French hip-hop. We have French hip-hop on in the changing room all the time and it’s not for me. It’s a disaster of a music style for me.
"So when I get in the car I’m trying to calm myself down with Czech music. I’m really into popular Czech music like Kryštof, or Mirai. But I can listen to anything in the car as long as it’s not French hip-hop!"
What annoys you the most?
"From the football point of view, it’s definitely losing. I am a very competitive person and I hate losing in any situation. Whether it’s an actual match, or in a training session, or even at a game of Teqball, I am angry if I lose."
What is your favourite holiday destination?
"I would say my dream holiday destination would be Fiji. But that’s a long flight to get there. I will say that Zanzibar is absolutely amazing. We were lucky enough to go to Zanzibar three years ago and it was incredible.
"To be honest though, as long as I’m away with family and I can relax, I’m happy."
How did you get your worst scar?
"I’ll tell you guys a secret now. It happened while I was doing something I shouldn’t have been.
"When I was a young boy, our neighbours had a cherry tree, and we would jump over the fence to get some. I tried to jump over the fence but I lost my balance and I fell straight down the side of the fence.
"The fence itself ripped me open along my thigh and I had a scar that was about 20 centimetres long. It’s healed up well now but, at the time, it was nasty."
How many languages can you speak?
"This is probably bad from me but I only really speak Czech and English. I can understand a bit of Polish and a bit of Russian. In the future I’d really like to be able to speak French and Spanish."
