West Ham United Women is delighted to confirm the appointment of Chris Pipe as the team's new goalkeeping coach.
Pipe will form part of Rehanne Skinner’s new-look coaching staff as she leads the Club into the 2023/24 Barclays Women’s Super League season.
The 35-year-old once again links up with Skinner, having previously worked with the manager at Tottenham Hotspur between July 2021 and September 2022.
Pipe most recently worked with England U23s as their goalkeeping coach and national goalkeeping coach developer. Prior to those roles, Pipe also worked at Dagenham & Redbridge, Millwall, Watford and Arsenal at men’s academy level.
Pipe has been working with the squad at Chadwell Heath since the beginning of August, taking charge of the team while Skinner was undertaking media commitments at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
"I'm really pleased to be joining West Ham United," he told whufc.com. "I'm really looking forward to the opportunity.
"Speaking with Rehanne and [managing director] Aidan [Boxall], the project is a really exciting one and I'm looking forward to the season getting underway.
"My integration with the staff since the minute that I arrived has been great and I've been made to feel really welcome here.
"I have enjoyed my time working with Rehanne in the past and I'm really excited to be working with her again in east London.”
Skinner shared her happiness at adding Pipe to her coaching team and is looking forward to working with him again.
She said: "I'm delighted to be working with Chris again. We've worked together in a previous role where his development of the goalkeepers and the set-piece programme was exceptional.
"He's coming to us with more experience off the back of working with England U23s and I have no doubt that he will be a huge asset to the team.”
Jimmy Walker, Danielle Bowman, Darren Smith and Jenny Coady have all departed their respective coaching roles with West Ham United Women. Everyone at the Club would like to thank each of them for their efforts and would like to wish them all the very best for the future.
