Career highlights, karaoke songs and tattoos | Any Questions with Danny Ings

Danny Ings is next to take our random question challenge...

Who is the most exciting footballer in the world?

"For sure, it’s absolutely Kylian Mbappe. He’s been doing so well at Paris Saint-Germain and he’s got absolutely everything in his locker. He is so, so quick, very strong and got unbelievable finishing ability as well.

"With all of that, he’s undoubtedly the most exciting player in the world right now."

Name a stadium you’ve never played in that you would love to play at

"There are a couple, but I’ll go for the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Obviously that’s Real Madrid’s stadium and it’s a huge venue, with so much history. You can hear the noise and atmosphere through the television so I’ll go for the Bernabéu."

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

"Oh wow, there have been a few good moments. Scoring for England was really good, and the manner of it was really special too. Not many people can say that scored a bicycle kick at Wembley Stadium! So that’s up there as one of the best moments.

"I think my highlight, though, was my debut for England back in October 2015. I had not long moved to Liverpool and I came off the bench in a win against Lithuania, and that was really special.

"I also have to mention winning the UEFA Europa Conference League with West Ham. That is definitely right up there as well. I’ve had a couple of runners-up medals in my career, so to get a winning one was very special."

What is your go-to karaoke song?

"I don’t have a specific one but I would back myself to perform anything by Ed Sheeran. I actually don’t mind karaoke, and I play a little bit of guitar as well."

What were the first and most recent concerts you went to?

"The first was actually Ed Sheeran. He played the Eventim Apollo not long after his first album came out, and I went to that.

"The most recent was The 1975. A friend of mine, Ross MacDonald, is the bass player for the band so I went to one of their concerts. That was a while ago now though."

Would you rather be Batman, Superman or Spiderman?

"It’s a hard choice but I’ll go for Superman. Having the ability to just fly anywhere I want would be unreal. That’s the best power out of all the superpowers and would make my commute to training every day much easier."

Which teammate has the worst dress sense?

"I’m running a real risk of upsetting someone here. This question could throw me under the bus… I think, if James Ward-Prowse was sat here answering these questions, he’d say it’s me, so I’ll do the same and say Prowsey."

Do you understand cricket?

"Actually, I don’t understand cricket. It’s not a sport I’ve ever played or even watch. That’s the boring answer, but it’s the truth."

How many tattoos have you got?

"I really can’t tell you how many I’ve got now because I’m covered in them.

"In terms of significance, there is one on my chest which shows a tall figure and a smaller figure with a football, which signifies my relationship with my Dad growing up. I would say that’s the most meaningful one I have."

What is the one item in your life you cannot live without?

"That’s a really good question to end on. If I’m answering pedantically then it would have to be food because you obviously need food.

"If you then ask me which one type of food I couldn’t live without, it would be a traditional roast dinner for sure. You cannot beat a roast dinner. It’s just the best."
