Jarrod Bowen against Fulham

Bowen: We are starting to gel as a team

Jarrod Bowen feels West Ham United are starting to gel after the side recorded consecutive Premier League wins following a deserved 3-1 victory over Fulham at London Stadium.

The Hammers No20 started the West Ham comeback with a well-taken first-half penalty after Andreas Pereira put Fulham ahead on five minutes.

Scamacca completed the comeback with a dinked finish just passed the hour, before Michail Antonio secured a fifth win in our last six matches in stoppage time.

Bowen, who has now struck in consecutive league wins, praised the quality of the new signings, with Lucas Paquetá and Scamacca repeating the winner in midweek at Anderlecht and combining for the Irons second of the afternoon.

“You can really see the quality,” Bowen enthused. “You can see the group is starting to gel as a team. We have had two great victories in the Premier League. New players come into a new country, a new league, and new players around them. But I think you saw their quality today.

"It's a great finish [from Gianluca]. That’s what he does. The ball through from Lucas as well. It was a massive moment for us.”

It was far from an ideal start for the Hammers, who fell behind on five minutes when Pereira found the top corner with a fierce effort from inside the area.

To their credit, the Hammers did well to battle from behind to take victory, and Bowen was pleased with his side’s effort at London Stadium.

Confidence is high. Now, it's about momentum with all the games coming up.

“The way we started wasn't good enough for us,” he added. “We find ourselves a goal behind which is annoying. But then we dug in very well as a group. And got the goal back and then we started to control the game a bit more. All in all, we've got three more goals as well. It’s a great three points.”

The Hammers’ strength in depth was also on show, as Moyes made nine changes from our third win of UEFA Europa Conference League Group B at Anderlecht, while substitute Michail Antonio secured victory in stoppage time.

“I think that's the message from the manager is when you're not in a team, you're going to be needed at some point,” stated Bowen, “because there are a lot of games. And games might go one way or the other way.

“We need an impact from the bench. And Mickey again comes on [today]. He's a handful, and he has got his goal; I'm delighted for him as well.”
