Jarrod Bowen has been shortlisted for the Premier League Guinness Goal of the Month award for August for his superb strike in the 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.

The West Ham United captain completed a sweeping move and secured a valuable victory at Selhurst Park with his memorable 72nd-minute finish.

The goal, which came five minutes after Bowen had played a role in Tomáš Souček’s opener, was a counter-attacking masterpiece.

Guido Rodríguez poked the ball away from Eberechi Eze on the edge of the West Ham penalty area and it fell to Maximilian Kilman. The centre-half then burst past Eze and brushed off Adam Wharton’s challenge before crossing the halfway line and releasing Bowen with a superb diagonal pass.

The England forward collected in his stride, took a few touches as he entered the Palace box, then cut inside defender Chris Richards and fired an accurate and powerful shot low past Dean Henderson in the Eagles goal.

Bowen has been nominated alongside Manchester City’s Mateo Kovačić, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Tottenham Hotspur’s Yves Bissouma, Liverpool’s Luis Díaz, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and Southampton’s Yukinari Sugawara.

Voting is open now HERE. Polling closes at 12noon on Monday 9 September, with the winner set to be announced on Friday 13 September at 1pm.
