Bergman Lundin: Every game between now and the end of the season is really important for us

Marika Bergman Lundin is relishing the return of Barclays Women's Super League action on Sunday afternoon, with West Ham United women's team heading north to face Manchester City.

The Swede says the squad have been able to use the time between their last match, which was a 0-0 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion on 31 March, and Sunday's clash with City to good effect, with the team ready to take to the pitch at the Joie Stadium.

"We've had some really good training sessions during the international break," Bergman Lundin told whufc.com.

"We've had a period where the international players were away, and then it's really nice when everyone comes back together, and I feel like we've put in some really good work since our last game.

"We had the open training session as well, which was really nice. As a new player, it was nice to see all of the children from the different Sister Clubs coming out and supporting us.

"It shows how much of a family Club West Ham is, and that is nice."

The Hammers are hoping to pick up more points in their remaining four fixtures of the season, which will see them face City and Aston Villa away from home, before welcoming Leicester City to Chigwell Construction Stadium and then ending the 2023/24 campaign at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Spurs.

"Every game between now and the end of the season is really important for us," the 24-year-old explained.

"We've done really well against the top teams in recent times, our performances have been really good.

"The pressure is on them because they'll want to win to keep themselves ahead in the title race. We're an underdog going into the game, but we know we have the quality to get a result if we play to our best."

Bergman Lundin is yet to start a match in Claret & Blue since making the move from BK Häcken in January, but she has impressed in her five cameos from the bench.

The midfielder has also had to adapt to moving away from her home country for the first time in her career, and praised the help that players and staff have given her in the three months she has been a Hammer so far.

She added: "Everything for me now off the pitch is all sorted, and I feel I'm starting to settle now. I can never say it will fully feel like home, because things in England are done a little differently.

"But everyone here has been so helpful - my teammates, the staff and the fans. People are always looking to help me in any way they can."
