Tomáš Souček: We deserved at least a point

Tomáš Souček believes West Ham United will bounce back swiftly from the disappointment of losing their unbeaten record at the hands of Manchester United on Sunday.

The Red Devils scored an 89th minute winner to cruelly defeat the Hammers 2-1 at London Stadium and Souček was sure his team were deserving of at least a point.

They led in the first half through Saïd Benrahma's deflected strike, before Cristiano Ronaldo hit back shortly afterwards, while a rare penalty miss from Mark Noble in stoppage time meant the visitors left east London with a point.

With West Ham due to face the Red Devils again on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup, Souček says they have the perfect chance to once again show what they're made of.

"We're disappointed because for a long time the result was on our side or on the balance, and now we're disappointed that we lost the game because I think that we deserved at least the point," he explained.

"We know that when we are playing against Manchester United everyone has to give maximum effort. We want to beat them, so our quality and concentration has to be on 100 percent, and I think it was that way on the pitch but it was a shame about the result in the end.

"The fans were brilliant. We know how they supported us from the start and we can feel that on the pitch. It's only a shame that we lost today but they were incredible and I hope that they will support us many times in the future like they did today."
