West Ham United Women's International Round-up - October

It was a busy international period for several of the West Ham United Women's team, with several jetting off to represent their countries across the globe.

No fewer than ten players joined up with their national team's over the past week, as we round-off the best of the action from friendly matches, all the way through to World Cup qualifiers.

Dagný Brynjarsdóttir was on target in both of Iceland’s matches against Czech Republic and Cyprus in their latest World Cup qualifiers.

Stelpurnar okkar put four past the Czechs on Friday evening, with Brynjarsdóttir facing off against team-mate Kateřina Svitková on the international stage.

On Tuesday afternoon, Brynjarsdóttir scored the opener against Cyprus in Reykjavík, as they smashed home five against their opponents, who are currently ranked 126th in the world rankings.

The 30-year-old midfielder will be delighted to be back amongst the goals for her country, as she won her 91st cap for her country.

Elsewhere, Hawa Cissoko made her return to the French National Team for the first time since 2017 and came of the bench in their 5-0 away win over Kazahkstan at the Astana Arena.

The Parisian entered the field just after the break with France already four goals to the good and was solid as France made it three wins from their first three games in Group A.

Adriana Leon and Anna Leat faced off against one another in Canada, as the North American outfit played their first matches back on home soil after winning Gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this summer.

Leon scored twice in their opening friendly match against the Kiwi’s and then grabbed the winner in the second fixture of Canada’s ‘homecoming celebration.’

Leat featured in the second of the two matches, playing the full 90 minutes as her side lost by a solitary goal to the Canadians.

Australia finally made their long-awaited return to home soil, as they played two friendly matches against Brazil.

Tameka Yallop played in both games, helping her team-mates to a 3-1 victory in the first contest, with the sides drawing the second game 2-2 after Brazil clawed their way back from two goals down.

Mackenzie Arnold wasn't involved in either match for the Matildas.
