Tomáš Souček nominated for EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Month award

Tomas Soucek scores against Brighton

Tomáš Souček has been nominated for the EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Month award for December.

West Ham United’s Czech Republic international midfielder capped an outstanding first year in Claret and Blue by scoring three goals in the final month of 2020.

The 25-year-old netted the opening goal in the home defeat by Manchester United, an equaliser in the 2-1 win at Leeds United and a late header to secure a 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion. He now has five Premier League goals this season to lead the Hammers’ scoring charts.

In addition to his goals, Souček’s all-round play also helped the Hammers secure a 1-1 home draw with Crystal Palace and a creditable goalless draw at Southampton after Christmas.

The reigning Czech Footballer of the Year ranks in the top three in goals, passes, shots, tackles, aerial battles won, clearances and interceptions for West Ham this season.

The No28 is one of eight players shortlisted alongside Aston Villa’s Anwar El Ghazi and Emiliano Martinez, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, Manchester City’s John Stones, Burnley’s Ben Mee and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
