Team News: Vladimír Coufal and Jarrod Bowen return against Brighton & Hove Albion

West Ham United manager David Moyes has made two changes to his side to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday evening.

Full-back Aaron Cresswell, who was injured after an hour of the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, has not recovered in time to face the Seagulls, with Vladimír Coufal reintroduced to the starting XI in his place.

Jarrod Bowen is reintroduced to the XI, meanwhile, at the expense of Arthur Masuaku, who is named amongst Moyes’ substitutes on Wednesday.

Those changes mean that Ben Johnson – who scored his first professional goal against Brighton in the corresponding fixture last season – is likely to switch to the left side of defence for his seventh consecutive Premier League start.

Coufal is expected to defend on the opposite flank of a back four also comprising Craig Dawson and Kurt Zouma.

Declan Rice will wear the captain’s armband once more – rainbow-coloured, to show the Club’s support for the 2021 Rainbow Laces campaign – and will anchor the midfield alongside regular midfield partner Tomáš Souček.

Ahead of them will be the exciting triumvirate of Pablo Fornals, Saïd Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen, supporting Michail Antonio in attack.

Moyes could call upon numerous options from the bench including, for the second time in a week, 17-year-old forward Sonny Perkins, who made his first-team debut against Rapid Vienna in the UEFA Europa League last week.

West Ham’s substitutes’ bench also includes goalkeeper Alphonse Areola; defenders Issa Diop and Arthur Masuaku; midfielders Alex Král and Club captain Mark Noble; and forwards Nikola Vlašić and Andriy Yarmolenko.
