West Ham United U23s defeated Chelsea U23s 2-1 in a competitive London derby in Premier League 2 on Sunday afternoon.
The young Irons made a rapid start at Rush Green Stadium courtesy of Will Greenidge’s first-ever goal at PDP (U18s and U23s) level, the centre-back sweeping home a loose ball from close range.
Chelsea equalised before half-time through Brian Fiabema’s crisp low strike, however, before an injury to West Ham captain Aji Alese in the early stages of the second half led to a significant stoppage in play.
With 16 minutes added on, the Hammers needed only eight of them to find a winning goal, Harrison Ashby exchanging quick passes with Emmanuel Longelo before applying a low finish for his first of the season.
