Timo Werner's goal at the end of the first half proved the difference as West Ham United were edged out by Chelsea on Saturday.
The Hammers lost a tight game at London Stadium 1-0 as the Blues made use of the big chance which came their way on 43 minutes.
The Hammers felt they might have had a penalty for handball against César Azpilicueta when the game was goalless, while Fabián Balbuena was harshly sent-off late on after catching Ben Chilwell in his follow through on a clearance.
