Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with Basset & Gold...
West Ham United's Great Escape from Premier League relegation kicked-off with a dramatic 2-1 victory at Blackburn Rovers on this day in 2007!
The Hammers bounced back from a home defeat by Tottenham Hotspur by winning in controversial circumstances at Ewood Park.
Christopher Samba put Rovers in front two minutes after half-time, but 19 minutes from time West Ham's fortunes took a pivotal change for the better. Brett Emerton was penalised for fouling Carlos Tevez and the Argentinian stepped up to score from the penalty spot.
Then, four minutes later, Bobby Zamora's shot hit Tevez on the goalline - in an offside position - but referee Howard Webb awarded a goal and West Ham had a vital lead which they held on to until the final whistle.
The Irons would go on to win seven of their final nine matches to stay up on the final day of the 2006/07 season.
