West Ham United manager David Moyes knows his team’s home form is going to prove crucial over the closing stretch of the 2019/20 season.
The Hammers play six of their final eleven games of the Premier League campaign at London Stadium, starting with Saturday’s visit of Southampton.
Moyes’ men would haul themselves out of the bottom three with victory over the Saints and the boss says they need to start building momentum, especially on their own patch.
“It won’t be decided on this one game, but it will make life a lot easier if we can win on Saturday,” he said.
“In truth our home form has not been good enough – we’ve not won enough games at home, so that’s why we need the crowd behind us, we need to up the level of performance, we need to see if we can do that better and all those things come into the mix for me for this game.
“The morale has been very good at the training ground because we all felt we put in a very good performance at Liverpool.

“Morale has been good for weeks since I’ve come in. We were disappointed after Brighton because of what happened in the end, but I’ve got to say we picked ourselves up and went again and we’ve put in some decent performances.
“We were disappointed with the mistakes we made [at Liverpool], but we weren’t disappointed with the commitment, the effort of the players, the way they’ve gone about their business.
“We have to stay positive, there have been good things in our last few games, I thought we defended very well in all of them.
“We had chances to score against Liverpool at home we didn’t take, we had big chances away at Liverpool. I wouldn’t say we had as many opportunities at Manchester City, but we had a resolute defensive style.
“There are some good things, but I know we need wins, because winning changes a lot of things.”
