On This Day: Hammers secure Club-record win at Barnsley

Kevin Nolan, Nicky Maynard, Mark Noble and Ricardo Vaz Te were all on target as West Ham United romped to a 4-0 Championship win at Barnsley on this day in 2012.

The promotion-chasing Hammers kept up the pressure on top two Reading and Southampton with a Club-record 12th away win of the season at Oakwell.

Sam Allardyce's side went ahead inside seven minutes through captain Nolan's close-range striker before Maynard doubled the lead with a fine 25-yarder following some sumptuous build-up.

Noble trumped that with a beautiful lob over Barnsley goalkeeper David Button before Vaz Te completed the rout with a goal against the club he left to join West Ham two months previously.

The victory delighted the thousands of Hammers fans who had traveled to Yorkshire on Good Friday, making up a large proportion of the 11,151 crowd.

The Irons went on to finish third, before winning promotion via the Play-Offs, while the Tykes ended the season in 21st.
