Mark Noble believes Saturday’s incredible 4-3 victory against Huddersfield Town again showcased the competitiveness of the Premier League.
The Terriers are rock bottom, but looked on course for a rare victory when Karlan Grant’s double and Juninho Bacuna’s header had them 3-1 up at London Stadium.
West Ham refused to fold, however, and came storming back with Chicharito scoring twice to follow Angelo Ogbonna’s goal and complete a remarkable turnaround.
Noble has seen a lot during his lengthy Hammers career, but still struggled to sum up a topsy-turvy afternoon.
He said: “I’m still trying to realise what went on to be honest. Huddersfield play good football, they have good players and probably shouldn’t be in the position they’re in.
“We weren’t really in any trouble at all, we were 1-0 up and controlling the ball, but they’ve then scored two set plays which is disappointing for us.
“We were pushing, pushing, trying for the second and obviously Michail hit the bar early on too, and they scored a breakaway third.
“Everyone probably thought it was over, apart from us, and we dug ourselves out of trouble with Chicharito coming on and scoring two great headers, and a great header from Angelo as well.
“In the end, even though it was tight, we probably deserved the win.
“That’s the Premier League for you really, no game in this league is easy. You need to turn up every week and if you don’t defend set plays properly the other team will score.
“I’m just pleased we’ve kept our run going at home, we had a bad defeat at Cardiff last week and we really needed to bounce back today.
“I’m really pleased with the three points, but also deep down inside I’m still a little disappointed that we’ve conceded three goals."
