West Ham United were made to rue their missed chances in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to Everton, with head coach Matt Beard frustrated with the lack of luck in front of goal.
A late strike from Hannah Cain was the difference in a tight match at Rush Green Stadium, ending West Ham's three game winning-run with a disappointing loss.
Beard believes his team's performance did not warrant a defeat but recognises West Ham lacked a cutting edge in front of goal.
It's a kick in the teeth, but that happens in football sometimes. In football, you sometimes don't get the luck you deserve or the result your performance warrants.

Beard said: "We created numerous chances on the night and, for whatever reason, we've not had that luck in front of goal. It's disappointing to lose the game, particularly after such a good win against Reading in our last match.

"I think our decision-making wasn't great tonight. Sometimes we had an extra touch when we should have shot or passed, or vice versa. But we have to give Everton credit. They've scored with their one big chance, and walked away with the three points."
With less than four days until the next match, a huge SSE FA Cup quarter-final away to Aston Villa, Beard is already preparing his side for a big test, and wants the Irons to put this defeat behind them quickly.
He added: "We've got a quick turnaound and it's going to be a tough game away from home. Aston Villa have been in really good form, but I feel we've got enough quality in our squad to get through the tie. We need to be fully prepared though."
