Lukasz Fabianski believes West Ham United can use Saturday’s victory over Arsenal as the trigger to cement their place in the Premier League’s top ten.
The 1-0 triumph at the weekend – West Ham’s first home win against the Gunners in over 12 years – pushed them up to ninth in the Premier League table – and after taking 19 points from their last nine matches, the goalkeeper sees no reason for that form to stop.
Next up is a brace of away league games against sides in mid-table, so Fabianski has called on the team to play with the same determination and focus they showed against Arsenal to ensure they achieve positive results at AFC Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“We hope to go on a run now,” the No1 said. “We’re happy with the win on Saturday and it shows if we continue to put in performances like that consistently we will be able to compete against anyone.
“Now we have two away games in the league against tough opponents, so it will be difficult but we just have to stay focused and work like we’ve done in the last week.
“We were very happy with the win on Saturday and we can also be very happy with the performance we put in because I think we dominated most of the game and created more chances.”
Fabianski also joined the queue of his colleagues to heap praise on Declan Rice, saying he was glad he showed the finishing ability he displays in training on the big stage.
He added: “During one training session he scored three screamers against me and we had a chat about it. He told me he’d love to finally score for West Ham and it happened on Saturday. I’m very happy for him because he works hard and he’s been great for us this season.
“To score such a nice goal against such a good opponent in front of the crowd we had is brilliant for him and for us.”
