West Ham United women's team invited supporters group Any Old Irons to watch training and meet members of the team in glorious, sunny conditions at Rush Green.
Open to anyone over the age of 65, Any Old Irons is part of the Football Friends programme and is run in conjunction with the Premier League, the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) and Friends of the Elderly, The initiative gives participants the opportunity to connect with other fans and locals in their community, bringing them together for fun and friendship.
Through the Players’ Project, the women’s first team squad have used West Ham Women's Week as an opportunity to give back to the community, including engaging with West Ham fans of all ages.
Captain Gilly Flaherty, goalkeeper Becky Spencer, Jane Ross and Kate Longhurst welcomed the attending Any Old Irons to training, who were then invited to observe head coach Matt Beard's session.
The group were given the full experience of a day at West Ham United's Rush Green training facilities, joining the women's players for lunch after training.
