West Ham United captain Mark Noble says Sunday’s goalless draw was a sign of West Ham United’s togetherness.
The Hammers held a team who enjoyed 72 per cent possession at bay with a display of discipline and defensive solidity.
Lukasz Fabianski needed to make second half saves from Alvaro Morata and Ross Barkley but was kept well protected by his teammates as West Ham built on their victory at Everton.
Indeed, they might well have won it with presentable chances passed up by Michail Antonio and Andriy Yarmolenko, but Noble preferred to focus on that first clean sheet of the campaign.
“We knew they were going to have a lot of the play. They have the had the most possession this season, but we created, chances clear cut chances.
“When you play against the big teams you need to take your chances but I’m not going to dwell on that.
“It was an all-round defensively fantastic performance. The lads dug in, fought together, played together and we deserved a point.
“They’ve won five in a row for a reason so you can’t go gung ho and try and think you can outplay them because you can’t, but you can do things well and that’s what we did.
“Mikey could have had two in the first half and Yarmo will be thinking about that header tonight, but we’ll take a point all day long.
“You looked at these three league fixtures, Everton away where we haven’t been good in the past and we got three points there. Then we’ve got a point at home against one of the best teams in the country and then it’s a big one against Manchester United after Macclesfield. After that performance we can look forward to the United game for sure.”
