Andriy Yarmolenko wasn’t bothered by any personal accolades which came his way after he scored two goals at Everton on Sunday – the only thing which mattered to him was that West Ham United picked up their first three points of the season.
Yarmolenko’s double on his first Premier League start was instrumental to the 3-1 victory at Goodison Park, which put an end to a four-match losing streak.
The Ukraine forwarded netted twice in the opening half to put the Hammers in a strong position, and although Gylfi Sigurdsson pulled one back on the stroke of half-time, Marko Arnautovic made the game safe just past the hour.
For Yarmolenko, the victory was the perfect way to celebrate his elevation to the starting XI and now he is hungry for more.
He said: “We played well at Everton. We played like a team, both in defence and attack, and we are very happy for our first win in the Premier League.
“I’m very happy for my team winning. Who scores the goals, I don’t care.
“We worked hard this week because we had to change around the results and we had to show our fans that we will fight for this Club."
