Manuel Pellegrini said his West Ham United side will not let Friday night’s defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion get them down – just as they didn’t get carried away by victory against Manchester United in the previous game.
The 1-0 loss at Brighton – handed to them by Glenn Murray’s 25th minute goal – ended a three game Premier League unbeaten run which saw the Hammers take positive results against Everton, Chelsea and the Red Devils.
Despite a slow start at Brighton, Pellegrini felt the Hammers did more than enough after the interval to claim at least a share of the spoils, only for wasteful finishing to let them down.
With the season’s second international break now upon them and two weeks before their next game at home to Tottenham Hotspur, the manager says his team will continue to work in exactly the same way as they look to find consistency to their form.
He explained: “Before Friday’s game I said that it wasn’t a turning point when we beat Manchester United, [and neither is this].
“Every game in the Premier League is different, every game is difficult and we wanted to add points at Brighton.
“We couldn’t, but we must continue working in the same way, because the way we played in the last 45 minutes was the correct way."
