Felipe Anderson: We are improving every day

Felipe Anderson celebrates scoring at Ipswich Town

Felipe Anderson believes he and his new West Ham United teammates will improve with every Premier League match and training session they take part in.

The club’s record signing and his fellow summer arrivals will appear at London Stadium for the first time on Saturday, when they will seek to put Manuel Pellegrini’s plans into action against AFC Bournemouth.

Felipe Anderson admits the Hammers were not at their best in their season opening defeat at Liverpool on Sunday, but believes it will not be long before the Claret and Blue Army see why the club overhauled both the coaching team and playing squad.

We are training now to understand each other and the team's system, and we are also talking a lot so we can adapt as quickly as possible

“I believe that I will be 100 per cent of my individual form in a few matches because I am working very hard during the week and during the matches I am gaining physical form,” said the Brazilian. “I am more concerned with adapting to the team's way of playing and being able to perform at my best in it and, in doing so, help them achieve better results.”

The 25-year-old is settling into life in east London and English football following his arrival from Italian club Lazio, where he spent five seasons in Serie A, in July.

With so many new faces seeking to blend with each other and the players who were already with West Ham last season to form a winning team, Felipe Anderson knows everything will not click immediately, but believes every training session and match that passes will improve the squad’s collective understanding.

“We know that when many new players arrive the adaptation is slower, but they are all experienced players, even the youngest ones already have a career, that they know how to assimilate what the coach wants quite well.

“We are training now to understand each other and the team's system, and we are also talking a lot so we can adapt as quickly as possible.”

On Saturday, the No8 and his teammates will get their first opportunity on home turf to show how well they are adapting and gelling.

And, after losing 4-0 at Anfield last time out, he is eager to enjoy his first Premier League victory when the Hammers take on the Cherries.

“The Premier League it is very difficult because you always have to be attentive to every minute, as every match is played with a huge intensity and a lot of speed.

“I would have liked my first Premier League experience to have finished with a victory. Unfortunately, we could not get the result we wanted.

“Liverpool are a great team and they beat us deservedly, but it was a wonderful experience to make my first appearance in the Premier League and I hope we can grow in the season.”
