West Ham United players had a mixed Sunday on the international scene.
Youngster Declan Rice was the only winner among the four Hammers in action, playing the full 90 minutes as Republic of Ireland U19 defeated Austria 1-0 in a friendly in Tallaght.
Elsewhere, midfielder Havard Nordtveit started Norway’s 3-0 defeat by Germany in Oslo, earning his 29 senior cap and finishing the 2018 FIFA World Cup Group C qualifier with the captain’s armband. Club-mate Martin Samuelsen was an unused substitute at Ullevaal Stadium.
Michail Antonio was handed the No21 shirt and a watching brief for England as Sam Allardyce’s reign began with a hard-fought 1-0 Group F victory in Trnava. The Hammers winger was named in a senior England squad for the first time for the fixture, which England won courtesy of Adam Lallana’s 95th-minute winner.
Finally, Reece Oxford started England U20s’ 2-1 defeat by Brazil in Kidderminster, making his first appearance at that level.
