Angelo Ogbonna has plenty of European experience having been involved in the Champions League Final for Juventus against Barcelona back in June 2015.
The Italy international was an unused substitute as his side lost 3-1 to the Spanish giants but he will never forget being involved in such a showcase event.
Ogbonna would love to make up for that disappointment by playing European football once again and knows the Hammers can qualify for the Europa League if they beat Stoke on Sunday.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a memorable first season in English football and would love to cap it off by helping his side secure a top six finish.
Ogbonna said: “It is extremely important for us to do our best against Stoke in the final game and we are really focused on that.
“This year is massive for us and nobody expected us to do what we have achieved. For us it is really important to finish with a big win.
“We have got a lot of quality in the squad with the likes of Payet, Lanzini, Obiang, Noble, Collins, Reid – everybody. We have got a really good mix of players.
“It is important for the team if we can play in Europe next season. It changes everything and it is a good chance for us to play in Europe.
“Everybody wants to finish the season with a victory so we know it will be a hard game on Sunday.”
Ogbonna says he will never forget the atmosphere that was created during the final ever game at the Boleyn Ground and says he was fortunate enough to experience a similar crowd when he played in Italy.
“In Italy it is very similar but the atmosphere that we had against Manchester United was very similar to the Tottenham game and it does give you a lot of energy to change the match.
“When we went 2-1 down the crowd were fantastic for us and they helped us to turn the game around.
“I have enjoyed my first season in England and the Premier League is fantastic. For me this has been a really good season.”
