Lanzini relishing return to action

Manuel Lanzini will come up against long-term friend Ramiro Funes Mori
Manuel Lanzini is delighted to be back in action for the Hammers following the thigh injury he suffered against Liverpool in January.

The Argentine who has made sixteen appearances this season is now looking forward to the final ten games of his first season in the Premier League.

Lanzini said: “It is great to be back on the pitch and I am pleased that the manager has put his faith in me once again to put me back into the team following my injury.

“I love being back on the pitch, and the minutes that I have been getting, along with the confidence the boss has shown in me are helping me get back to where I was before the injury.”

Saturday’s match at Everton will see Lanzini take to the pitch with Ramiro Funes Mori, his childhood friend and former River Plate teammate. Both players are in their first season in the Premier League and are adapting to life in England.

Lanzini told whufc.com: “We have known each other since we were both kids and even though he is a little bit older than me; we played together in the youth setup at River and later in the first team together. So there is of course an established friendship between us.

“I am delighted to be in England, the staff and players at the club have made the transition easy and comfortable here and have helped me feel at home and that helps on the pitch. I think I speak for both of us, as Funes Mori has had a good first season with Everton, scoring a couple of goals and playing well.”

The Spurs’ game on Wednesday night saw Lanzini get a further 84 minutes under his belt and he was delighted with the team performance.

He said: “Tactically, we were organised and we got it spot on. We followed what the manager asked of us and in truth against a strong team like Tottenham that is what is needed to be able to take home the three points.”
