I think we could have had a couple more on Wednesday!
From the get go we went out and attacked them and did to them what they’ve done to plenty of teams this season. It was a great goal and we held it all the way until the end.
We worked on the tactics all week and obviously it paid off. We knew exactly how they were playing, how to break them down and exactly what they were going to do to us. It’s worked and we got the three points.
We just had to stop them attacking. We knew how dangerous they were on the counter attack. From our corner, you could have seven Spurs players sprinting to get in our box. We had to defend well and basically turn it around and do the same to them.
There's a lot of talk of Europe about at the minute, but we’ve just got to concentrate on playing the way we’ve been playing. We focus on each game as it comes and don't concentrate too much on who’s ahead or who’s behind. We look at the teams coming up, the next game and focus on that.
It’s obviously the business part of the season now. When everyone’s fit we’ve got a massive squad and it’s a great squad, and it’s great to have the likes of Manuel Lanzini and Diafra Sakho back.
It’s the best West Ham squad since I’ve been here. The depth that we’ve got is fantastic in every position and it’s great competition for all the lads.
When you see everyone fit and everyone’s on the training pitch together, we’ve got some team, we’ve got a great team and it can only get better.
It’s great to fight for your position. Everybody, from Daz [Darren Randolph], he’s a fantastic keeper, you can see when he’s played in the cup. He’s great, it goes all the way through the squad.
Hopefully I can stay injury free now, carry on the run until the end of the season and start afresh at the beginning of the next.
Come on you Irons,
Andy
