Head of Medical and Sports Science Stijn Vandenbroucke with his latest update – in association with Spire Roding Hospital...

Hello everyone,

We will start this week with an update regarding Carl Jenkinson, who unfortunately suffered a significant knee injury in Saturday’s 2-2 Barclays Premier League draw with Manchester City.

For the moment, Carl’s medical procedures are handled by Arsenal.

We wish Carl all the best at this difficult time.

James Tomkins picked up a groin injury at Newcastle United. James returns to full training tomorrow and should be available for this Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Liverpool.

Michail Antonio was one of a few players who picked up knocks in the Manchester City game, but all of them will be recovered in time to play at Liverpool. Michail injured his wrist and will wear some protection in the next few games.

Andy Carroll is close to full fitness. He will be training with the squad from the beginning of next week.

Manuel Lanzini and Diafra Sakho have started working on the pitch individually and are coming into the final stages of their rehabilitation. We are still on target to recover them by the middle of February.

We have five days remaining of the Transfer Window and we will have to see what happens with regard to any new players coming in, which will necessitate a medical taking place at Spire Roding Hospital.
