The West Ham United Learning Academy is back and recruiting for the 2016/2017 season!
The West Ham United Learning Academy is a two-year, full-time education and football development programme delivered in partnership with both professional and non-league clubs.
Open to talented footballers aged between 16 and 18, the Learning Academy programme is a must for any keen footballer. A trial will be required as places will be offered based on playing ability.
This year the Foundation is proud to launch three new initiatives alongside the existing programme including; the Ladies Learning Academy, the Second Chance programme, aimed at players who have previously been unsuccessful at Academies, and a bespoke Futsal Academy.

Why join the West Ham United Learning Academy?
West Ham United has a proven track record in nurturing talented young players through its outstanding Academy set-up, having produced the likes of Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick, Jermaine Defoe, Rio Ferdinand, Mark Noble, James Tomkins and Jack Collison in recent years.Today there are over 100 players in the Premier and Football League who are products of the West Ham United Academy.
What to expect:
Football- Compete in the Conference Youth Alliance League/BCS College League
- Professional coaching by UEFA A and B licensed coaches
- Emphasis on steering players toward a professional career in the game

Players will receive guidance on their football fitness, nutritional advice and a regular appraisal to monitor each player’s development both on and off the pitch. Players will have the opportunity to represent the Club through the Learning Academy side.
Over the two-year duration of the course, players will study a variety of nationally recognised qualifications across sport, coaching and fitness.
Players will study the BTEC Diploma in Sport, delivered at Level 2 and 3 standards (A-Level equivalent), FA Coaching Qualifications together with core skills in Maths and English.
Successful completion of the educational programme will enable players to follow pathways into Higher Education at selected universities or discover employment opportunities within the sport and leisure industry. Youngsters will also be encouraged to consider coaching placements and playing scholarships in the USA.
Who will deliver the educational aspect of the course?
The Foundation has developed a partnership with SCL, a further education and work based training provider, who will be responsible for the management and delivery of the educational element of the Learning Academy programme.SCL currently work with sixth form schools, further education colleges and football academies in the South of England and have over ten-years’ experience successfully delivering vocational and academic sports based qualifications.
The SCL team consist of highly qualified and experienced teachers, assessors, verifiers and FA coach educators.
How much does it cost?
Both the football and educational elements of the Learning Academy are fully funded and therefore there is no cost to join the programme. However, there will be subsidised cost for purchasing training kit at the start of the season.
