West Ham United can confirm that striker Elliot Lee has joined League One club Colchester United on loan until the end of the 2015/16 season.

The 21-year-old returns to the Essex club for a second spell, having scored his maiden league goal in a 2-2 League One draw with Rotherham United in November 2013.

Since then, Lee has netted his first goal for the Hammers, scoring in a UEFA Europa League second qualifying victory over FC Lusitanos in Andorra last July.

The forward previously made his first-team debut in a Premier League fixture with Stoke City in August 2013 and has also had loan stints with Southend United, Luton Town and Blackpool. In all, Lee has scored five goals in 25 career appearances.

Lee could make his second Colchester ‘debut’ in Tuesday’s League One fixture with Fleetwood at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Lee is also eligible to play in the Emirates FA Cup, where the U’s will host Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City in the fourth round.

The Academy graduate becomes the latest Hammer to go out on loan, joining Diego Poyet (Charlton Athletic), Stephen Hendrie (Southend United), Martin Samuelsen (Peterborough United), Reece Burke (Bradford City), Lewis Page (Cambridge United), Sam Westley (VVV Venlo), Sam Howes (Wealdstone), Clarke Bogard and Ross Elsom (Tilbury) and Tim Brown (Chelmsford City).
