Martin Samuelsen scored a sensational goal for loan club Peterborough United to lead the Hammers' band of loanees
Martin Samuelsen netted his first professional goal, a late winner for Peterborough United, in some style by beating several Sheffield United players before unleashing an unstoppable shot.
The highly rated Norwegian winger came on in the 78th minute with Posh 2-1 up. However Jack Baldwin’s inadvertent own goal just six minutes from time looked to have levelled the proceedings before Samuelsen made his mark seconds later.
The win keeps Posh in the play-off positions with 40 points from 25 games.
Lewis Page made his Football League debut after joining League Two outfit Cambridge United. The exciting left-back went straight into the starting XI, unfortunately the U’s slipped to a 4-1 home defeat to AFC Wimbledon.
Reece Burke’s Bradford City slipped to a 3-0 defeat away at Gillingham. The hosts got off to a fantastic start as goals from Bradley Dack and Rory Donnelly inside 11 minutes put the Gills firmly in command.
Doug Loft completed the victory with just minutes to go, the three points takes them to second in League One, while the Bantams are twelfth.
Clarke Bogard’s Tilbury FC got 2016 off to a fantastic start by recording a 4-0 win over Great Wakering Rovers.
Tilbury are now unbeaten in 17 league games since September and have suffered just one defeat in 22 matches. Neil Richmond netted a hat-trick and Emiel Aiken scored to take Tilbury to fifth in the Ryman Football League – Division North.
