Sixteen year old Alfie Lewis impressed during his Dev Squad bow
Having become the latest member of the Academy of Football to make their debut for the U21s this season, Alfie Lewis had every right to be happy with his performance.
The sixteen year old midfielder looked lively throughout, moving the ball around and snapping into tackles.
Reflecting on his Dev Squad bow, Lewis reflected: “It was a good experience, it’s very different from U18 football, it’s a lot more physical. I really enjoyed it and I thought it was a pretty good game.
“This is definitely a career highlight so far, it’s a good feeling.”
So impressive has Lewis’s development been this year, that it is hard to forget he started this season in the U16s.
After catching the eye there, and for Steve Potts’ U18s, the versatile midfielder was given a run out in a highly entertaining game at Telford AFC.
The Hammers went ahead thanks to Sam Ford’s sublime run and finish yet the spoils were shared when Wolves equalised late on.
He continued: “My season is going well personally, I’m working hard and it’s paying off so I’m pleased with that. There’s always room for improvement so I’m looking now to push on.
“The aim now is to try and get a regular place in the U21s, try and get more games and keep progressing really.
“I’m a midfielder, I like to pass it, get on the ball and link up the play, I also like to try and create passes.”
