West Ham bounced back from a 4-3 defeat to Wimbledon with a morale-boosting win over Liverpool at the Boleyn Ground 17 years ago today.
The Hammers were in front after just four minutes when John Hartson netted.
After half-time Eyal Berkovic doubled the advantage before Karl-Heinz Riedle grabbed one back late on but Harry Redknapp's team held on for the win.
This was to be a memorable season for Hammers fans as the club finished in fifth place, qualifying for Europe.
