Classic match
West Ham United 2-1 Chelsea
Premier League
24 October 2001
West Ham United enjoyed a derby day to remember 14 years ago, when Chelsea were sent packing from the Boleyn Ground following a 2-1 defeat.
The Hammers did the damage early on, flying into a two-goal lead with just 12 minutes on the clock.
Michael Carrick opened the scoring on four minutes, before Freddie Kanoute added a second shortly afterwards.
The early drama continued to flow with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink pulling one back just ten minutes later.
However, that would be the end of the scoring as the Hammers stood firm to register their second win on the bounce.
West Ham would go on to finish seventh in the top flight that season, just one place behind Chelsea.
